Frequently asked questions

How the site works, where the links go and what we can (and can’t) tell you.

Do you sell these presents?

No. Christmas Gift Ideas is an independent ideas site — we don’t sell anything or take payments. The buttons on each idea take you to Amazon.co.uk, where you can see the current price, delivery options and reviews, and buy if you want to.

Why don’t you show prices?

Prices on Amazon.co.uk change often, sometimes several times a day, so any price we showed could be wrong by the time you read it. Amazon shows the current price — and the delivery date for your address — on its own pages.

Do you earn money from the links?

Yes. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases made after you follow one of our links. It doesn’t change the price you pay. Read our affiliate disclosure for the details.

Why do most buttons open a search instead of one product?

Most of our ideas are a type of present — a heated throw, a marble run, a tea advent calendar — and there are usually many good versions. A search lets you compare makes, sizes and delivery dates yourself. Where we link to one specific product, we checked the product page first.

Have you tested these products?

No — we haven’t tested the products ourselves and we don’t publish ratings. Our ideas are suggestions to help you think of the right present. Please read the details and customer reviews on Amazon before you buy.

How does the gift finder work?

Choose who you’re buying for, their age (for children and teens), what they’re into and how big a present you want. We show every idea that matches. If nothing matches every choice, we tell you which choice we left out to find the closest ideas. Try the gift finder.

When should I order to get presents before Christmas?

It depends on the item and the seller. Amazon.co.uk shows an estimated delivery date for your address on each product page and at checkout. If you’re posting presents yourself, see when to order for Christmas for Royal Mail’s last recommended posting dates (once published).

When does the advent calendar open?

Each of the 24 doors in our advent calendar opens at midnight, UK time, on its date in December 2026 — door 1 on 1 December, and so on. Before then, each door tells you when it opens.

Can I return a present bought through your links?

Your purchase is with Amazon or the seller on Amazon.co.uk, so their returns policy applies, alongside your legal rights. Our guide to returning presents after Christmas explains your rights in the UK.

Are the toys safe for my child’s age?

Always follow the maker’s age guidance and warnings on the product, and buy from sellers you trust. Our toy safety guide explains the UKCA and CE marks, the under-3s warning, and the dangers of button batteries and small magnets.

How do you choose “this year’s big toys”?

We don’t choose them. We only list toys from top-toy lists that have been published, with a date, by the toy industry or major UK retailers — and we name who published each list. If a list isn’t out yet, we say so. See this year’s big toys.

Can I suggest a gift idea or report a mistake?

Please do — contact us. We read everything, and we correct mistakes as quickly as we can.
